A couple of weeks have passed since my last update, but it's not because I haven't been working on my website or writing -- quite the opposite! All this time I've been fighting for my fucking life!!!

I have been struggling to put my ideas into paper, so to speak. I had a pretty clear idea for what I wanted my notebook page to be for example - a cute notebook, like the ones I've had throughout my life, that serves as a place to share some of my favorite things. the concept is fun and pretty simple to build on.

For my index/landing page, I realized I could do something cute after seeing solaria's frames page. I could make the flexbox sections have frames for borders and it would look like a wall of pictures! Wouldn't that be cute?? I could get a widget for a calendar, and a clock, and hang up a corkboard...There's a lot you can do with that. Bu, uh...it has been WAY harder than I thought it would!

For the past two weekends it's been one step forward, two steps back, three steps sideways, stepping on a weirdly sharp breadcrumb and then finally finding my footing. To give you an idea this has been my process:

  1. Find a cool widget
  2. Copy html and css, sometimes javascript, to my pages
  3. Fenaggle the values of borders, margins, and paddings to try and make it so things don't look like visual throwup when I move things around
  4. Think "there's GOT to be an easier way to do this"
  5. Keep the CSS in case I bring the HTML back later
  6. Repeat process

I did this with clock widgets, calendar widgets, and a crossword code that's fun but not really one I can adjust to match the style i'm going for. I haven't given up, but it's certainly frustrating! For now, only the "frame" idea is sticking. I do feel proud of what I've learned so far though. Not bad for a self-taught coder!
